Getting your Air Source Heat Pump Serviced at least once a year is extremely important for ensuring its efficiency, increasing its life span and keeping your energy bills low. A professional service by one of our Engineers at ServiceMy can also help to identify and address any potential issues early which will prevent costly repairs further down the line. Without a yearly service your warranty is most likely to be void which can lead to expensive repairs that would no longer be covered under your warranty.
Enhanced Efficiency
Dirty filters and other ancillaries can reduce the flow rate which will make your heat pump work even harder to heat your property and results in more energy being consumed by the heat pump (increasing your energy bills). Servicing ensures these components are cleaned out and functioning efficiently, which means saving you money.
Extended Life Span
Identifying small issues early helps reduce the risk of breakdown before they escalate. Regular servicing and maintenance can reduce the risk of a major breakdown and keep your heat pump in top condition, running at its most optimum. The initial outlay of an Air Source Heat Pump is a big investment, regular servicing allows you to maximise and protect your investment.
Prevention Measures
Smaller issues such as worn parts and small refrigerant leaks can lead to a full system breakdown, by regular servicing we can identify these problems early and prevent a major breakdown and more importantly a major repair cos.
Warranty Validity
All heat pump manufacturers require annual servicing to keep your warranty valid. Missing your annual service will mean you lose all your warranty coverage and this will leave you liable for any repair costs that might have been covered otherwise.
Increased Comfort
A well looked after and serviced Air Source Heat Pump means you can enjoy constant heating and hot water throughout the year. This reliability ensures comfort to your property no matter the weather outside.
Environmental Benefits
Air Source Heat Pumps operating at their maximum efficiency consume much less energy and reduces the planets carbon footprint. Regular maintenance and servicing support sustainable energy use which benefits both you and the planet.
Yes, we can provide a tailored plan which includes your heat pumps hot water cylinder alongside the service of your air source heat pump unit. This can be included in your service plan for added convenience and peace of mind. This ensures all your hot water systems are maintained and running at their most efficient, effectively reducing your bills.
Absolutely, having your air source heat pump serviced through certified professional engineers will ensure you warranty remains valid. Regular servicing is usually the pinnacle of any warranty agreement with all manufacturers so it is very important you keep up to date with your air source heat pump’s service history. All Air Source Heat Pump Manufactures will need to see this in case of any breakdown you wish you claim against. Missing your annual service will mean you lose all your coverage and become liable for any heat pump break downs.
If you are contemplating having an air source heat pump fitted there are many key benefits you should know about:
The significantly lower heating costs: on average an air source heat pump should run at around 400% efficiency, meaning for every pound of energy you put in, you should be getting 4 pounds of energy back out. Regular servicing and maintenance can help you reach this figure and without it this figure will decrease as time goes on.
Switching from fossil fuels to a heat pump reduces the need for regular fuel purchases and with no more gas bills you can enjoy a sustainable, efficient and cheap heating solution to your home.
Air Source Heat Pumps are designed to be user friendly with their simple controls and minimal maintenance. Once they are installed, they run almost independently until the end of their life span, regular servicing will dramatically increase this life span!
- Keep the air inlet and outlet (area around your heat pump) grills clear, your heat pump relies on plenty of clear room around the unit to keep it running at its optimum, so avoid surrounding it by things such as garden furniture. You can also help by clearing any leaves or bits of rubbish from sticking to the units fins which are usually located at the rear and side of the unit.
- Have your heat pump serviced regularly by a competent engineer, annual servicing is important to keep your heat pump running at its most efficient and to keep any warranties you may have valid.
- Monitor your systems water pressure, checking your water pressure in the system is an important maintenance step which you as the home owner can do, your installer should have shown you where the pressure gauge is, often its near an expansion vessel. The recommended pressure is usually around 0.7 bar for a bungalow and 1.2 bar for an average 3-bedroom house. If the pressure is lower than these figures then you can top the pressure up via a filling loop, similar looking to the ones on a boiler which will be near the pressure gauge. If you’re topping it up quite frequently then this would indicate there is a leak on the system and you may need an engineer to come and inspect.
- Ensure good system water quality. To prevent the corrosion of pipes and blockages in your heating system, make sure the correct chemicals are applied. Having a heat pump filter fitted to the system reduces the build up of an debris. Regular power flushing also keeps the system water clean, but this can have a high cost.
- Use your controls wisely. Optimising the use of your controls helps your heat pump run efficiently and keeps your home at a constant comfortable temperature. Using radiator TRV’s to manage the required room temperature. Once set, leave the TRV’s alone as they are designed for consistent comfort. It’s worth keeping in mind that heat pump systems run at a lot lower flow temperatures than boilers, meaning radiators will be larger but will never feel piping hot. The systems is designed to provide constant heat, but at a lower level. Once the room reaches temperature the radiators will keep it at that temperature by delivering heat constantly, but at a much lower temperature.
